All wrapped up: The Tagthia Amiqa treatment feeds you from outside in
The treatment at the Address Dubai Marina prods, pokes and pulls to get amazing results. We’re talking eyes watering, wincing and gasping...
While women’s spa treatments have convoluted names using words like bliss, purity and radiance (usually coupled with something to do with flowers, like blossom or bloom) men’s facials tend to get to the point. Take the Address Dubai Marina for example. The laidback yet luxurious spa here offers a face treatment for men with the pleasingly succinct masculine name Metro Facial. Metro — a word that gives guys confidence. It sounds cool, modern, urban. No chance of any rose petals with this treatment. And so it proved.
The 75-minute facial is not for the faint hearted. That’s because it includes extractions, which means the therapist, Amor from the Philippines, uses a tiny, malicious, metal wand to squeeze all those hard-to-reach spots on your face.
Guys, we’ll be straight with you: it hurts. Not childbirth levels of pain, but we’re talking eyes watering, wincing and gasping. This segment of the facial only lasts 10 minutes but the results are worth it. Your skin will feel smoother afterwards and, of course, fresh and clean. It may even lighten your skin as all that ingrained dirt is extracted.
The extraction, mercifully, comes at the end of the treatment. Before that it’s a pleasant carousel of gels, toners, serums, scrubs and cleansing milks from the Natura Bisse range being gently applied to your face with either fingertips or a paintbrush.
The first stage of cooling, cleansing milk feels wonderful. This luxurious cream is probably the sort of thing that theatre actors used to smear on their faces to get the greasepaint off in the old days. One of the masks bubbles as it sucks the grime out of your pores and tickles so much you might actually laugh.
From laughter to pain, the Metro Facial spans the emotional spectrum.
