Change can be stressful. Good thing then that the Silk Spa Signature Ritual at the rebranded Habtoor Palace can remedy that

Motivational speakers can drone on for hours about change and the benefits thereof. For us mere mortals, however, any change can be anxiety inducing. While we might not be inherently opposed to the idea, we do worry about how our personal lives would be affected.
A fan of the St Regis brand, I’ll admit to some trepidation at the recent announcement of a change in management at Al Habtoor City and its flagship property. Now under the Hilton group, a visit to the Habtoor Palace’s Silk Spa was in order.
The hotel retains its top-tier aesthetic and service, I’m happy to report. The marble is as polished as it was previously, and everything gleams as it had before, although the smiles that follow you through the grand corridors might be brighter now.
The Silk Spa Signature Ritual starts with an invigorating body scrub with abrasive salts, designed to leave you as smooth as the material the venue is named after. A quick shower later I’m back on the massage bed, and my therapist, Akom, gets to work with soothing oils to beat niggly knots into submission and rehydrate, replenish and soften. A personalised facial follows after a quick skin test. As cleansers, serums and toners are applied and removed, I enter that blissful state where consciousness takes on a transient quality. Mission accomplished.
The spa uses Espa products throughout, and therapists are well trained in the range to make practical recommendations. The relaxation area is a serene haven and the perfect conduit between the treatment rooms and the wet room, where a sensory shower, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna await.
The Silk Spa Signature Ritual takes its name seriously. This is a two-hour affair meant to showcase the best it has to offer, and it doesn’t disappoint.
