New TommyXLewis fashion line to be released this autumn

For Tommy, there is life after Gigi. And a very fast life it is. They don’t get much faster than modern playboy and celebrity in his own right off the track, Lewis Hamilton — Hilfiger’s latest celebrity endorsement for its fashion lines.

At an event in Shanghai yesterday Tommy Hilfiger officially announced its collaboration with Lewis Hamilton on a range of menswear for the Autumn-Winter 2018 season. The collection is rather aptly, and simply, named: TommyXLewis.

Having been named as the global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger menswear last month — where Debonair got the opportunity to talk life, cars and fashion with Hamilton — the F1 superstar’s partnership with Hilfiger has shifted up a gear with this latest announcement.

Though we had an inkling something big was in the pipeline when Hamilton was announced as global brand ambassador for Hilfiger last month, the exclusive logo for the F1's racer's first-ever fashion line with Hilfiger was revealed last night in Shanghai.

The clean red, white and blue aesthetic of the range takes inspiration from Hamilton’s casual street-wear look, and the unique TommyXLewis logo takes its cues from the sleek racing lines associated with the McLaren driver’s primary passion.

At the event in China yesterday, the second most successful Formula One driver of all time said, “As my love of fashion has grown so has my desire to design a collection. It is an honour to partner with Tommy Hilfiger to make this dream come true.

“I cannotwait to show fans around the world how Tommy and I have channelled our creativity into this first TommyXLewis collaborative collection.”

Commenting on the Hamilton-Hilfiger tie-up, the iconic American designer said, “Lewis is bold in everything he does, from racing and extreme sports, to fashion. This collaborative collection is something totally fresh for us in men’s, and at the same time, it really celebrates the Tommy Hilfiger DNA.

“This result can only come from partners who share our values and drive. We were really proud to unveil the exclusive logo and the design inspiration with our fans in China last night, and look forward to sharing the collection with everyone around the world this Fall,” Hilfiger said.

Partnering with Hamilton marks the latest chapter in a long and successful line of celebrity endorsements for Hilfiger. David Bowie, Rafael Nadal and Usher have all previously championed the fashion label.
